SSA Applications

Students — Apply to the SSA!

The culture of D.C. Everest is defined by the students who fill our halls. We need a better understanding of student perspectives to ensure we are offering the opportunities — and addressing the challenges you face — that will help you build a successful future.

As we say goodbye to our Class of 2026 SSA members, we are looking to fill their vacancies and are now accepting applications for the 2026-27 SSA. We’re looking for students who are interested in representing the diverse perspectives of students — not just their own perspective — and willing to respectfully discuss issues that impact the district.

SSA members should be willing to commit to:

  • Participating in solutions-focused discussions that address district challenges and identify opportunities.
  • Soliciting areas of concern from students and advocating on behalf of them.
  • Seeking input from a diverse range of their peers and sharing that input at meetings.
  • Respectfully listening to others, rather than dominating the conversation.
  • Identifying a goal they feel would improve their school/the district, creating a plan to meet that goal, acting on that plan and sharing what they learned/their results (this can be completed as a solo or group initiative). These goals can range from complex initiatives to one-step requests for items that improve the facility/classroom.
  • Attending lunch-time monthly meetings during the school year (lunch will be provided)

The meetings will be held monthly from 11:15-12:45 at the DCE Administration Building. DCE Junior High students will be provided with transportation to the building. Students will be excused from class for these meetings with the superintendent and will be allowed to make up any work missed. It will be the student’s responsibility to complete the missed work.

In order for this advisory group to be effective and successfully represent the wide variety of student voices in our district, it is important the members are diverse — pursuing different career and educational paths. This group is designed to be a forum where you, as a student representative, can speak up, share perspectives, offer ideas and identify challenges. Therefore we ask all students to take a moment and consider applying to the SSA.
